Summary
Media coverage of bullying in our schools tend to focus primarily on its aftermath--victims afraid to attend school, depression, and, in some instances, even suicide. Current research and best practices clearly demonstrate that the problem of bullying can be systematically eliminated in our nation's schools and communities through effective and targeted prevention strategies.
This book, The ABC's of Bullying Prevention, takes an innovative approach to addressing this societal problem. It presents the necessary information, training, and guidance needed by the stakeholder groups -- Administrators & Pupil Services Staff, Teachers, Paraprofessionals, and Parents -- of the school community. By partnering in a comprehensive school community-wide approach, each adult can be equipped with valuable strategies to accomplish the goals of bullying prevention and intervention. These are the individuals who have the greatest impact on preventing bullying from appearing and addressing it when it does occur in our schools and communities.
This book includes both time-honored strategies, as well as innovative approaches, to address the needs of the "victim" and the behaviors of the "bully".
