About the Author |
| Pasquale J. Accardo is a professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College, Director of Pediatrics at the Westchester Unstitute for Human Development, and a pediatrician at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, New York. The editor of the newsletter Developmental Milestones and the author, coauthor, editor, or coeditor of over 250 journal articles, books, book chapters, abstracts, letter, book reviews, and invited lectures, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society for Developmental Pediatrics, the American Pediatric Society , and the Autism Society of America, among others. He received the B.S. degree (1965) in biology from St. John's University and the M.S. degree (1969) from the Downstate Medical Center of the State University of New York, both in Brooklyn, New York. He completed a fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics (1976 at the John F. Kennedy Institute of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland.
Thomas A. Blondis Dr. Thomas Blondis is a knowledgeable expert on developmental and behavioral services for children of all ages. He is especially committed to early intervention efforts to identify and assist infants and toddlers in need, and currently serves as executive director and medical consultant for the University of Chicago Woodlawn Early Intervention Program.
He is active in many national organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, for which he serves on the attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder practice guidelines subcommittee. He is also a member of several local committees aimed at reducing lead poisoning and helping children with physical and mental disabilities. In addition, Dr. Blondis is a member of the editorial board for Attention magazine.
Barbara Y. Whitman is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and Director of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Program at St. Louis University School of Medicine and School of Social Service, Missouri. She is also Director of Family Services and Family Studies at the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. The author or coauthor of over 50 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts, Dr. Whitman is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Council of Social Work Education, the American Psychological Association, and others. She received the B.S. degree (1964) from the University of Louisville, Kentucky, and the M.S.W. (1973) and Ph.D. (1980) degrees from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
Mark A. Stein is Chief of Psychology, Center for Neurosciences and Behavioral Medicine, and Pediatrics, Children's National Medical Center, and Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics, George Washington University Medical School, Washington, D.C. Additionally, he is Director of the Hyperactivity, Attention, and Learning Problems Clinic at the Children's National Medical Center. The author or coauthorof over 110 journal articles, abstracts, letters, book reviews, presentations, and invited talks, he is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology and a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Behavioral Pediatrics, and the International Society for Research in Child and Adolescent Psychopathology. He received the B.A. degree (1975) in psychology from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and the M.A. (1978) and Ph.D. (1982) degrees in child clinical psychology from Southern University, Carbondale. |
