About the Author |
| Pat Huggins, M.A., is an elementary school counselor in a district adjacent to Seattle, Washington. She is also a clinical instructor in the Graduate School of Counseling at Seattle Pacific University and a teacher inservice trainer throughout the United States. In addition to her more than 30 years of experience as a teacher and as a middle and elementary school counselor, Huggins has also written, produced, and presented two educational television series for public television. |

Summary
Helping students to develop self-control goes a long way in making the classroom—and the rest of their lives—safe and positive. This resource offers a model for solving classroom conflicts and a wide range of tactics for maintaining one's “cool.” In addition, students learn to acknowledge and constructively express anger and communication techniques that avoid provoking others. The lessons include role plays, puppet plays, other activities, and reproducibles.
