About the Author |
| Ginger Rhode, Ph.D., is currently the ESL Professional Training Coordinator for the Davis School District, a district of 58,000 students in Farmington, Utah. She has served as the director of special education in Davis District for several years as well. Previous professional assignments have included Coordinator and State and Federal Compliance Officer for special education for the Utah State Office of Education; elementary school principal; junior high vice principal; and teacher in elementary and secondary classrooms for severe behavior disordered, emotionally disturbed students. Dr. Rhode is an adjunct faculty member at both Utah State University and the University of Utah. She has published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and professional papers. Her main areas of interest and expertise include classroom and schoolwide management, social skills training, generalization, and maintenance of behavior and teacher training.
William R. Jenson, Ph.D., has worked for many years with behaviorally disordered children. He completed a clinical internship at Las Vegas Mental Health Center and later directed their Adolescent Residential Center. He then assumed the directorship of the Children’s Behavior Therapy Unit for Salt Lake Mental Health. Dr. Jenson is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Utah. His research interests include management, behavioral assessment, academic interventions, and parent training. He has published several books, classroom materials, journal articles, resources for teachers, and numerous research papers. For the past 15 years, he has been an active staff development presenter and consultant for many school districts, mental health centers, and parent organizations. He is probably best known for coauthoring The Tough Kid Book and The Tough Kid Tool Box.
Ken Reavis, Ed.D., (1942-2001) was a specialist for behavior disorders and discipline and Comprehensive System of Personnel Development Coordinator in the Services for At Risk Section of the Utah State Office of Education. Reavis had over 25 years of educational experience in the field as a classroom teacher, university professor, and administrator. His research, writing, and presentations focused on student management; discipline; school climate; noncompliance school assistance teams; and prereferral strategies for teachers, administrators, resource personnel, and parents. |
